The local government has initiated the public tender for the installation of photovoltaic panels in the Palacio de Congresos as part of the Energy Efficiency Plan. Various municipal buildings, including the Archaeological Museum, Casa de las Tejerinas, the Bullring, and the Muñoz Pérez Football Stadium, have already been equipped with energy-saving measures to reduce CO2 emissions. The goal is to generate electricity from solar radiation, leading to economic savings and lower pollutant emissions. The upcoming photovoltaic installation at the Palacio de Congresos will include solar panels, inverters, control systems, and measuring equipment. The bidding budget for the contract is 140,955 euros, with a six-week execution period. The Estepona City Council aims to reduce energy consumption by 15-20% in museum and tourist buildings while enhancing their energy rating. This initiative is part of the Tourism Sustainability program and the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Tourism, funded by the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. The council has also implemented LED lighting systems in various areas and introduced sustainable elements across the municipality.
