The urban development of a plot in Arroyo Vaquero, where 518 subsidized housing units are planned, was recently approved by the Consistory in a plenary session. Estepona City Council is finalizing procedures to construct 110 subsidized housing units in the area of Camino de Cortes. These municipal lands were sold by the Consistory in 2023 for the construction of affordable housing and were acquired by Fundación Vimpyca. The first plot for VPO construction has a capacity for 32 homes, while the second plot can accommodate 78 homes. The developer foundation has presented the preliminary project for the first development and plans to submit the basic project and building permit application in December. The objective of providing housing in general and special regime, promoting access to housing for groups with difficulties, was the reason behind the disposal of these municipal plots. In addition to these developments, 110 VPO were completed in the area of Juan Benitez in the last quarter of 2022. Mayor José María García Urbano has pledged to continue acquiring plots for affordable housing. The City Council approved the modification of a partial plan for the development of a plot in Arroyo Vaquero, where 683 free income housing units can be built along with 518 subsidized housing units. The approval allows the generation of building land for residential use and the reservation of 30% of maximum density for subsidized housing. The processing of the file for new homes in Arroyo Vaquero will require simultaneous applications for licenses of first occupation for both free income housing and VPO.
