A program aimed at enhancing the road network in Estepona has been launched by the Municipal Council, targeting approximately twenty roads across the municipality. The VII Municipal Plan of Asphalting has been awarded to improve streets and avenues, particularly in the suburban region. This initiative marks the seventh phase of road improvement projects in the area, building upon previous enhancements to main and secondary streets in the city. The primary goal of the project is to revamp road pavements using sustainable criteria, aiming to enhance user safety and comfort while reducing noise and air pollution caused by traffic. The project also aims to preserve the municipal road infrastructure to prevent deterioration that could lead to costly reconstruction. Selection of roads for rehabilitation was based on factors like pavement wear, age, and traffic intensity. According to Ana Velasco, deputy mayor for Development, Infrastructures, and Tourism, these interventions ensure road functionality and longevity. Nineteen roads have been identified for improvement, with potential for expansion based on project needs. Downtown areas like Carmen Laforet Street, Puerta del Mar Avenue, and Segovia Avenue will be addressed, while suburban locations such as Calle Lubina, Avenida Mexico, and Calle del Tenis are also included. Hormigones Asfálticos Andaluces, S.A. has been awarded the contract after submitting the most competitive bid of 1,445,038.75 euros, with a five-month execution period once work commences.
