A project aimed at helping families achieve a healthy work-life balance is being implemented by the City Council. This initiative, now in its second year, provides a space for day care and a range of training and school support activities. The Estepona City Council is offering a free guardianship and custody service for children aged 6 to 16, whose families struggle to balance work and family life. This program is funded by the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Junta de AndalucĂa as part of the ‘Plan Corresponsables’. The service includes activities such as school reinforcement, leisure activities, and personal development in various locations around Estepona. The goal is to provide a safe and educational environment for children outside of school hours, particularly for working parents. The program will continue until September 30, with the possibility of extension, operating at the ECOS Group facilities on weekdays. In addition to child care, there will be training activities focusing on co-responsibility, promoting inclusive language, gender equality, teamwork, and social inclusion. According to Maria Aguilar, Councilor for Social Services and Social Integration, the program has been successful in helping families in Estepona reconcile their work and family life. Last year, 86 families benefited from the service, supporting approximately 130 children. The ‘Corresponsables Plan’ targets families in need, with priority given to specific groups such as single-parent families, victims of gender violence, and individuals with disabilities. Registration is open to all residents or workers in Estepona, with assessments based on income and family circumstances. Those interested can register at the ECOS Group facilities or contact them for more information.
