Innovative Measure by Estepona’s Local Government to Reduce Garbage Fee Through Recycling

Residents who make at least three deliveries per year at the clean point will receive a 3% discount on their bill, as part of the City Council’s efforts to promote recycling and environmental protection by implementing tax reduction measures. To be eligible for the rebate, interested individuals must submit all required documentation to the Patronato de Recaudación by the end of March. The initiative, spearheaded by Mayor José María García Urbano, aims to offset the impact of the central government’s waste management regulations while supporting municipal initiatives that benefit families. The rebate applies to taxpayers who deposit waste at an authorized clean point a minimum of three times a year, contributing to recycling and environmental sustainability. Those who made qualifying deposits in 2025 can apply for the bonus until the end of March by submitting receipts at the Clean Point or through the Provincial Board of Collection of Malaga. The Punto Limpio in Estepona accepts items such as mattresses, electrical equipment, X-rays, and oils that are not collected by regular waste services, promoting responsible waste management and environmental awareness. Citizens are encouraged to utilize this facility to support recycling, environmental protection, and public health. Deposits made in 2026 will determine eligibility for next year’s garbage collection bonus. The Punto Limpio is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 18:00, with exceptions on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
