Estepona’s mayor, José María García Urbano, and contest director, Alejandro Simón Partal, unveiled the announcement for the 6th International Poetry Award ‘Ciudad de Estepona’, establishing itself as a prominent event in Spanish literature. The prize money of 7,000 euros awaits the winner, with their work set to be published by Pre-Textos, known for its exceptional literary collection. The mayor expressed great enthusiasm for this year’s edition following the success of the 2025 contest, which attracted submissions from various countries. Estepona has become a hub for Spanish-language authors, receiving entries from Latin America, Europe, and beyond. García Urbano emphasized the city’s dedication to culture and creativity, promising continued support for reading initiatives. Renowned Galician poet Miriam Reyes, winner of the National Poetry Prize 2025, will lead the jury for the sixth edition alongside other esteemed literary figures and a representative from Pre-Textos. The jury’s decision will be announced on May 7, 2026. This prestigious literary event, established in 2021, has quickly become a leading platform for writers, attracting a record number of entries in its fifth edition.
