On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., participants will create decorations to embellish the neighborhood during the festive season. The municipal office in Cancelada has launched another edition of its popular Crochet Workshop, offered at no cost by the City Council in partnership with the local neighborhood association. Begoña Ortiz, deputy mayor of the Extrarradio area, announced that this edition will focus on crafting ornaments in various shapes and colors to adorn the streets of the neighborhood during the festive period. The workshop has garnered increasing interest among neighbors, with participants producing more intricate and high-quality decorations. Previous workshops have seen the creation of a crochet awning for summer shade, as well as knitted Christmas ornaments used to embellish the neighborhood and a massive Christmas tree standing at 12 meters tall with over a thousand decorations. The councilor praised the skill and dedication of the participants, emphasizing the mental health benefits of knitting and crocheting in boosting self-esteem, happiness, and cognitive stimulation, particularly in a social environment. Registration for the workshop is open to all at the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada on Montemayor Street, 54 (phone 952 883 785).
