The reporter will recount her extensive experience in over 25 nations impacted by conflicts and humanitarian emergencies. The Estepona City Council has announced that Patricia Simón, a journalist and author from Estepona, will introduce her book Telling the Void on February 17 at 8:00 pm, at the Library of Contemporary Cultures, within the framework of the municipal cultural agenda. Patricia Simón holds a Journalism degree and specializes in International Relations, with a particular focus on human rights and gender issues. Throughout her professional journey, she has reported on numerous international conflicts and humanitarian emergencies in more than 25 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and the United States, covering topics such as wars, migration, gender-based violence, and social disparities. She has collaborated with media platforms like La Marea, contributes regularly to the Carne Cruda program and Píkara Magazine, and was a co-founder of the digital outlet Periodismo Humano, a trailblazer in human rights journalism in Spain. Her dedicated journalism has earned her multiple accolades over the years. In Telling the Void, the author contemplates the challenges of practicing journalism in environments of extreme violence and the duty of narrating human suffering from a moral and dedicated standpoint. Attendance to this event is free of charge, but pre-registration at bcc@estepona.es is required. The presentation will feature an interactive session with the attendees.
