The municipal government has asked the central Government for permission to carry out the necessary works to enhance the accessibility of the elevated crosswalk that links the residential areas ‘El Paraíso’ and ‘Benamara’. The City Council is prepared to cover all costs associated with the project, which will include the installation of ramps on both sides of the A-7 highway to facilitate use by elderly individuals, those with reduced mobility, cyclists, and parents with strollers. The technical project, funded by residents and property owners in the area, proposes the construction of reinforced concrete access ramps with a maximum slope of 12.5% to the existing pedestrian overpass. It is expected that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will grant approval for this initiative in the near future, as the City Council has been actively collaborating with the Ministry for over three years to address the community’s needs. In addition to this project, the Council has also urged the Ministry to consider constructing a new access point to Estepona from the A-7 to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance mobility within the municipality. The government is willing to fully finance this endeavor as well, recognizing the growing population and the resulting transportation challenges. Furthermore, various other infrastructure improvements have been completed or are in progress to enhance connectivity in the surrounding areas, demonstrating the Council’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
