Presented in three acts inspired by ‘The Lady of the Camellias’ written by Alexandre Dumas, the renowned opera ‘La Traviata’ will grace the stage on Thursday, March 5, at 7:00 pm, complete with Spanish subtitles. Estepona City Council has announced that the Opera Company Leonor Gago Artist Management, LGAM, will bring Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ to the Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI on the said date. ‘La Traviata’ is among Verdi’s most celebrated works, with libretto penned by Francesco Maria Piave, based on Alexander Dumas’ novel. It made its debut on March 6, 1853, at Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Despite an initial lukewarm reception, it quickly became a staple in the global opera repertoire. The opera is renowned for its emotional intensity, musical richness, and iconic arias like ‘Sempre libera’, ‘Libiamo ne’ lieti calici’, and ‘Addio del passato’. Verdi masterfully blends human drama with exquisite lyrical music, making it a timeless classic and a testament to his genius. ‘La Traviata’ narrates the tale of Violetta Valéry, a Parisian courtesan who falls in love with young Alfredo Germont. However, Alfredo’s father, Giorgio Germont, disapproves of their relationship due to societal norms. Driven by love, Violetta sacrifices her happiness and leaves Alfredo. Only when the truth comes to light does Alfredo seek reconciliation, but it is too late: Violetta succumbs to illness. Tickets can be purchased at teatroestepona.com or at the Auditorium box office two hours before the show.
