The traditional cultural days organized by the association ‘Manzanares Estepona 1831’ this weekend aim to commemorate the contributions of politician and military figure Salvador Manzanares, Estepona native Pedro Manrique, and other liberals of the nineteenth century who defended constitutional values and civil liberties. The program for the ninth edition of the Tribute to Salvador Manzanares and Pedro Manrique, scheduled for 6th, 7th, and 8th March in the city, was presented today by councilor Maria Aguilar, historian José María Guerrero, and representatives of the cultural association ‘Manzanares Estepona 1831’. Twelve associations from Andalusia will participate in this event, including Cultural Association Torrijos 1831 (Malaga), Association of Historical Recreation Bandoleros of Grazalema, and more. The weekend will kick off with a cultural proclamation by researcher Ildefonso Navarro Luego on Friday evening, followed by a romantic-liberal parade on Saturday and a historical recreation on Sunday, featuring the death of Manzanares and the capture of liberal troops. The procession will conclude at the Historic Cemetery of Estepona, where a tribute will be paid to Salvador Manzanares and his men. Maria Aguilar encourages all citizens to take part in these activities, describing it as an enjoyable and educational way to learn about the city’s past.
