A total of 22,000 euros will be granted by the local government to athletes who have excelled in official competitions and are registered in Estepona. The deadline for applications is March 31. Estepona City Council has launched the fifth edition of the Sports Excellence Awards, a program designed to support local athletes who have achieved success in official competitions throughout 2025, in various sports disciplines recognized by the Superior Sports Council. The councilman responsible for Sports, Luis Gil, has revealed that this year’s funding of 22,000 euros aims to provide athletes with additional resources to enhance their skills, contribute to their development in high-level sports, and promote competition at regional, national, and international levels. It is worth noting that in the previous year, a total of 33 athletes received financial awards, acknowledging their dedication to remaining at the top of their respective sports and their efforts in promoting Estepona. According to the guidelines, eligible athletes must be registered in Estepona since January 1, 2025, hold a valid license from an Andalusian or Spanish sports federation in the relevant sport discipline since the same date, and engage in competitive sports recognized by the Consejo Superior de Deportes. The awards are divided into three categories: Andalusian runner-up; Andalusian champion or Spanish runner-up, European, World, or international competition; and Spanish champion, European, World, or international competition. Those interested in applying can access the regulations on the City Council’s website, download the application form, review the required documentation, and explore the submission procedures. The application deadline is set for March 31. In the previous edition, several athletes were recipients of these financial awards in recognition of their hard work.
