After the completion of renovation works, the Estepona City Council has reopened the rural roads of Los Polvitos and Marimacho to improve circulation for residents in the area. The Marimacho road saw the concreting of a 200-meter section on a steep slope to prevent landslides during rainy seasons. Ditches were cleaned and the road was smoothed with gravel. Meanwhile, the Los Polvitos road had a breakwater wall built to prevent landslides caused by surface water during heavy rains. Surface water drainage systems were also improved and the road surface was paved. Similar renovations are now underway on the La MalagueƱa rural road, where Canteras Almargen, S.L, is constructing a new breakwater wall to prevent issues during heavy rainfall, leading to temporary traffic disruptions.
