The Pedal Day, included in the municipal initiative ‘2023, Year of the Bicycle in Estepona’, has seen more than 1,200 participants already. The City Council has organized eight editions of this activity to promote a healthier lifestyle and encourage cycling in the city. The next event is scheduled for Sunday, September 10. Participants, both young and old, ride approximately 5 kilometers through the town center, starting and ending at Plaza Antonia Guerrero. Before the last edition’s ride, a minute of silence was observed in honor of cyclist Federico Martín Bahamontes. The cycling marches will continue on the second Sunday of each month in 2023, with some exceptions. The upcoming event on September 10 will feature different starting and finishing points to explore various areas of Estepona. This month’s march was organized in collaboration with the Virgen del Carmen Cycling Club, who arranged a Gyncana. The procession was escorted by Local Police, Civil Protection volunteers, and sports delegation staff. Participants received a water bottle and cell phone holder as gifts, with repeat participants receiving a special jersey. A youth bike was raffled at the end of the route, won by local athlete Isaac Gil Salas. Registration and jersey collection can be done on the race day up to 15 minutes before the start.
