In the upcoming weeks, the concreting of the structure will be finished, paving the way for urbanization works on the surface. Estepona City Council has announced that the ongoing construction of the sixth public parking lot, located near El Carmen church and offering day parking for just 1 euro, has successfully navigated through its most challenging phases. The project’s location amidst neighboring buildings presented certain complexities, requiring careful planning and execution. However, overcoming these obstacles has allowed for smoother progress in the construction process. Currently, the concreting of the surface is underway and is expected to be completed within two weeks, marking the finalization of the intricate structure. Subsequently, urbanization efforts will commence around the entire perimeter, beginning on Manuel Navarro Mollor street, the church’s esplanade, and Virgen del Mar square. This will be followed by the urbanization of Guadiaro Street, completing the project as a whole. The new El Carmen public parking lot will offer over 300 parking spaces spread across three underground levels, supplementing the existing 2,000 parking spaces in the municipality. The project, managed by Innovaciones Técnicas y Recursos Constructivos S.A., is funded with an investment of 10,001,331 million euros, including VAT. A subsidy of 1.4 million euros from the European Union-Next Generation EU’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan supports the initiative. Upon completion of the parking lot next to El Carmen church, the Council plans to create a square in the area while maintaining the current surface parking lots and road traffic.
