The III Urban School Orienteering Race in Estepona is set to welcome around a thousand primary and secondary schoolchildren on Thursday, March 19, between 09:00 and 14:00 hours, starting from the Paseo Marítimo. Estepona’s City Council has announced the upcoming event, where participants will embark on a challenge to locate beacons using a map provided at the 09:00 starting time. Each student will be equipped with an electronic bracelet to track their progress through the course accurately. Building on the success of previous orienteering events like the 2nd MOSC and the II Urban Orienteering Day, the city is once again promoting this discipline. The race is open to students from 5th grade to 4th of ESO and Bachillerato, as part of the ‘Orientation in the School’ program under the School Games Estepona. The event is organized by the 24 Hours Sports Foundation in collaboration with various organizations, ensuring that orienteering becomes an integral part of Physical Education classes in Estepona’s schools. This initiative aims to sustain the positive response from the educational community and foster interest in orienteering among students. The 2025/26 course includes three events, with the upcoming race on March 19 being followed by the Gran Final Escolar 2026 on June 6 at the San Isidro Labrador Municipal Park in Los Pedregales. The final race will be part of the XXV Provincial Orienteering Circuit of Malaga, involving nearly twenty municipalities.
