As part of the Neighborhood Plan launched by the Consistory to enhance all neighborhoods, the Estepona City Council is implementing a project to create additional free parking spaces near the ‘La Lobilla’ health center. This initiative, part of the Municipal Plan for Neighborhoods, involves the removal of an old disused bus stop to accommodate up to eight vehicles. Municipal workers have dismantled the outdated bus shelter and a 20-square-meter concrete passenger platform. Currently, new parking spaces are being delineated with freshly painted road signs. Furthermore, the operational teams have also eliminated three architectural obstacles by lowering crosswalks in the same vicinity. Other ongoing improvements in the ‘La Lobilla’ area include repainting 5,700 square meters of sidewalks on Santiago Street. Red paint is being applied to tiles near crosswalks to assist visually impaired individuals in identifying safe crossing points. Additionally, the Neighborhood Plan has facilitated the expansion of the sidewalk beside the ‘La Lobilla’ sports pavilion by removing obstructive planters and installing new ones in a previously occupied kiosk area. Future endeavors in this zone will involve a comprehensive refurbishment of the children’s playground. This initiative, set to extend to other residential areas soon, aims to revitalize, enhance, and maintain various neighborhoods through a range of activities including construction, painting, signage, electrical work, plumbing, landscaping, barrier removal, and pavement maintenance.
