The visual display will be accessible to the general public from April 16 until April 30. The Town Hall of Estepona announces that Chamber 1 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, situated in Plaza de las Flores, will display a collection of artworks by Evelyn Kortum, a German artist known as e.wasserhase, starting on April 16. The exhibit, titled ‘Melodies of the Spirit’, comprises a total of 33 pieces, including 16 paintings and 17 sculptures. These artworks, as seen in previous displays, are crafted using natural elements like stones or tree bark, which the artist paints on. Additionally, she utilizes various materials such as fishermen’s nets, wooden canvases, ceramics, and metal. The exhibition will be open for viewing until April 30, operating from Tuesday to Friday between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with free entry. Evelyn Kortum, also known as e.wasserhase, was born in Hamburg and merges organic components with intricate dot painting methods in a harmonious manner. Her creations are heavily influenced by aboriginal and ethnic aesthetics, featuring reclaimed natural items like palm or eucalyptus bark, palm leaves, or branches that are transformed into distinctive, sculpture-like pieces. These artworks are often embellished with numerous small dots, showcasing her meditative and conscientious approach to artistry. Having journeyed across various regions such as England, France, Switzerland, and currently residing in Portugal, she infuses her work with a southern European flair and draws from her background in psychology, energy work, meditation, tai chi, and yoga, which significantly impact her creative process. Each artwork is seen as a fusion of natural shapes and spiritual expression, aiming to create pieces from ‘discarded’ natural elements that embody both beauty and mindfulness. e.wasserhase has been highlighted in several publications in the Eastern Algarve and on Artsyshark. Alongside her partner, she co-authored a book titled ‘Melodies for Mother Nature’ (Amazon), intertwining her love for painting and poetry. She has showcased her art in the Algarve and Andalusia. In May 2023, she presented the exhibition ‘The Journey of My Soul’ at Casa de Las Tejerinas, followed by ‘A Million Dots’ in the same venue in September of the subsequent year.
