Over 2,200 Submissions Received for the Sixth International Poetry Award ‘Estepona City’.

The announcement of the jury’s decision will take place on May 7 during a ceremony at the Felipe VI Auditorium, featuring a performance by the renowned singer Lole Montoya. The Estepona City Council has revealed that more than 2,200 entries were considered for the VI International Poetry Prize ‘City of Estepona’. This year, submissions have come from all Spanish regions and nearly every Latin American country. Additionally, original works in Spanish have been submitted from countries like Canada, Japan, Jordan, the United States, China, Australia, France, England, Portugal, and Germany, among others. The winner will be announced at the gala event on May 7 at 8 p.m. at the Felipe VI Auditorium. The event, which is free to attend, will include a conversation with Laura GarcĂ­a Lorca, director of the Federico GarcĂ­a Lorca Foundation and niece of the famous poet. Following the ceremony, there will be a flamenco concert by Lole Montoya, known for her influential career in promoting gypsy culture through music and collaborating with artists like CamarĂłn de la Isla and Raimundo Amador. Invitations for the May 7 gala can be obtained from April 27 at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center and the Contemporary Cultures Library. The winning poetry book will receive a prize of 7,000 euros and will be published by Pre-Textos. On the same day, the City Council will also celebrate Poetry Day with additional cultural events including a recital by poets Felipe Benitez Reyes, Aurora Luque, and Miriam Reyes, as well as a poetry performance by ‘La Bien Querida’ at the Castillo de San Luis.
