The Plenary Session is set to finalize the procedures to kickstart the building of 117 affordable homes, while the City Council wraps up the tender process for land to construct another 199 subsidized housing units. Estepona’s local government is making strides in its efforts to provide affordable housing for residents facing challenges. The upcoming Plenary Session in May will give the green light to the special interest declaration for the construction of 117 VPOs in Camino de Cortes Sur. Meanwhile, preparations are being made for the bidding process for two plots in Camino de Cortes Norte, where an additional 199 subsidized housing units are planned. The criteria for the tender will prioritize the lowest price for both the acquisition of land and the final price for homebuyers. In addition to these initiatives, the Consistory has approved the compatibility of use for 36 municipal plots to be used for subsidized housing projects. The City Council’s adherence to the Decree-Law 1/2025 has enabled the construction of a total of 738 homes in various areas of Estepona. Furthermore, six municipal plots have been earmarked for the construction of 109 subsidized housing units, aligning with the national initiative to boost housing supply and finance the construction of 15,000 units annually through the ‘Spain Grows’ fund. Urban development projects are also underway to build 300 VPOs in Camino de Monterroso and 800 more in the Guadalobón and Arroyo Vaquero regions.
