Estepona’s Mayor Collaborates with Paraguay’s Consul on Enhancing Community Participation

A productive meeting was conducted to strategize actions that will enhance the involvement of the Paraguayan community in Estepona. The Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, met with the Consul General of Paraguay in Malaga, María Soledad Saldívar, to develop initiatives that will further engage the Paraguayan residents in the city. Also present at the meeting were the First Secretary of the Paraguayan Consulate, Juan Manuel Mongelós, and Jacinta Mercado, a representative of the Paraguayan community in Estepona. García Urbano highlighted the significant presence of around a thousand Paraguayan citizens in Estepona and emphasized the importance of promoting projects that showcase their culture, cuisine, and music. He mentioned that the municipality is home to 130 different nationalities and reiterated the City Council’s commitment to supporting cultural exchange. In the case of Paraguay, plans were discussed for hosting a conference on legal and labor advice tailored to address the needs of the Paraguayan community. García Urbano underlined Estepona as a model of multicultural harmony and announced that the City Council will continue organizing activities and events to foster exemplary coexistence.
