Today marks the inauguration of Mirador de Cancelada Avenue, following its comprehensive renovation which includes new pavement, sidewalks, sewer and water supply systems, storm drains, street lighting, and newly planted trees. This project, with an investment of 2,951,493 euros, also encompasses the refurbishment of Marqués del Duero and Montemayor streets. The Estepona City Council announces the completion of the extensive makeover of Mirador de Cancelada Avenue, giving it a fresh appearance in line with the revitalized streets across Estepona’s urban area, emphasizing pedestrians and infrastructure modernization. The official opening ceremony will take place today at 8:30 p.m. The renovation work on this avenue, now designated as one-way southbound, involved the installation of new pavement, sidewalks, and upgrades to sewer, water supply, storm drainage, and street lighting systems, along with tree planting. These efforts are part of the initial phase of a larger project aimed at renovating Cancelada’s main streets, with a budget of 2,951,493 euros. Following the completion of Mirador Avenue, the next phase will commence in September, focusing on Marqués del Duero Street, which will also become one-way, but northbound, followed by the redevelopment of Montemayor Street. The City Council has chosen to award a single contract for these projects but implement them in stages to ensure each phase is finished before moving on to the next, maintaining functionality of each street and access to local services.
