In an effort to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs, the Estepona City Council has successfully finished upgrading the street lighting in six parks. A total of 350 high-pressure sodium vapor lights have been replaced with modern LED fixtures in La Constitución Park, Huerta Nueva Park, Human Rights Park, Children’s Park, Seghers Park, and Carmen Thyssen Park. The renovation, costing 186,823 euros, has significantly decreased the installed power from 35 to 12.25 kilowatts, resulting in a 65% reduction in energy consumption. This initiative, led by Deputy Mayor Blas Ruzafa, aims to modernize public infrastructure and optimize resource utilization. The LED technology implementation is expected to save the council approximately 27,000 euros annually and reduce energy consumption by 95,550 kilowatt-hours per year. The new fixtures not only improve energy efficiency but also minimize light pollution and glare, benefiting both residents and the environment. With a lifespan of ten years, the project is projected to save a total of 270,000 euros, ensuring a positive financial impact for the municipal budget.
