Join the City Council this Saturday for ‘La Gran Espetada,’ a special event offering a free tasting of 350 kilos of sardines cooked by some of the finest grill masters in the province. The celebration kicks off at 8:00 p.m. near the breakwater at the fishing port. To add to the festivities, the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen the Crowned will run a charity food stand with budget-friendly prices. Macarena Diánez, the councilwoman overseeing Culture and Festivals, highlighted the importance of this event in honoring Estepona’s traditional summer culinary art. The ‘espeto’ technique has deep roots in the city’s history and the council aims to showcase this heritage by featuring skilled professionals like Miguel León, Alfonso MarÃn, Miguel Saint, and Nicolás JoaquÃn GavÃn, all renowned for their expertise in ‘espeto’ grilling. The event will take place at the shipowners’ esplanade near the breakwater, starting at 8:00 p.m. Alongside the culinary delights, a charity bar managed by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen Coronada will offer refreshments at affordable prices. A DJ will also be present to provide music and enhance the lively atmosphere of the ‘espetada.’
