In October, the program ‘Get to Know Your Surroundings, Get to Know Your Province’ will be back with four different routes that include hiking, cultural tours, and educational activities. The Estepona City Council has announced the restart of the project through the municipal Youth Department, offering free trips and excursions to young people aged 18 to 35. The main goal is to familiarize them with the natural, cultural, and historical treasures of Estepona and the province of Málaga. The program, free for local youth, features four itineraries until the end of the year, combining hiking, cultural visits, and educational experiences in the natural landscapes of Estepona and other areas in Málaga. Notable routes include a walk along the Camino Nicola on October 17, a visit to the Caminito del Rey and Ardales on October 24, a hiking trail on Pico de Los Reales in Sierra Bermeja on November 21, and a trip to Málaga to explore museums and Christmas decorations on December 12. Limited spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The program promotes gender equality, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and accessibility for people with disabilities. Each activity will have specialized guides and information from local tourist offices. To register, interested individuals can email juventud@estepona.es by October 7 for the Caminito del Rey visit and by October 9 for the Camino Nicola hike. Julia Simón, the councilor for Youth Affairs, highlighted the initiative’s focus on environmental awareness, healthy leisure activities, and social and educational values for young people. It aims to enhance their appreciation for the cultural and natural heritage in their vicinity, encouraging active involvement in its protection and enjoyment. By engaging in outdoor activities in natural settings, the project contributes to the well-being and health of young participants. It also emphasizes sustainability, environmental education, and personal development, providing Estepona’s youth with inclusive and enriching experiences that combine recreation, learning, and environmental interaction.
