Estepona City Council completes campaign to eliminate pine processionary caterpillar
The campaign to eradicate the pine processionary caterpillar in Estepona has just been finished by the City Council. This action is essential to prevent the damage caused by this insect to trees, as well as the health risks it poses to people and pets. With a total of 2,800 injections applied annually to pine trees, the Council focuses on public parks, pine forests, school surroundings, and green areas. The treatment, carried out through endotherapy, is environmentally friendly and efficient, with trained gardening staff ensuring its proper application. Preventive measures starting in October are crucial to combat this pest, with a phytosanitary advisor overseeing the process.
