Advancements in the Urban Redevelopment Project in Estepona
default

The Estepona City Council has made significant progress on the urban redevelopment project, particularly focusing on the development of the parking garage roof within the future boulevard. The underground section of the boulevard will house a public parking garage with over 300 spaces, joining the municipal parking network at a cost of 1 euro per day for users. Engineers working on the project have completed the foundation of the parking garage entirely, with the structural work now at 95 percent completion. Additionally, infrastructure work on the boulevard’s southern section has been finished, along with sections on España and Juan Carlos I avenues, facilitating pedestrian traffic. The connection of Juan Carlos I Avenue with San Roque and Melilla streets is currently underway. Recent months have also seen the completion of underground utility lines, including electricity, telecommunications, water supply, irrigation, and sewerage. The future boulevard, part of the larger ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ project, will link España, Juan Carlos I, and San Lorenzo avenues with the historic center and boardwalk, creating a spacious public area with plazas, walkways, water features, and parks. The City Council aims to provide a modern, accessible, and environmentally friendly urban space that integrates various amenities such as taxi stands, loading zones, motorcycle and electric vehicle parking, and bicycle facilities, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing mobility. Estepona continues to pursue its vision of a sustainable and inviting city by the sea, solidifying its reputation as a national leader in creating high-quality public spaces and promoting the well-being of its residents.
