The park, recognized as a landmark for tourism and the environment, has seen a surge in visitor numbers since it first opened its doors in 2025. The Botanical-Orchidarium Park continues to attract more visitors, establishing itself as a top destination in the city for both locals and tourists alike. Ten years after its inauguration, the park, which boasts the largest orchid collection in Spain and one of the most significant in Europe, has welcomed over half a million visitors. This summer marked a record-breaking season with 16,372 people visiting the facilities in July, August, and September. Projections suggest a growth in visitors compared to the previous year, with 45,021 visitors recorded between January and October, reflecting a 13% increase from the same period in 2024. The Botanical-Orchidarium Park in Estepona, home to over 3,000 plant species, including more than 1,500 orchids, is a must-see attraction for city visitors and a beloved spot among locals. The majority of visitors come from Spain, with a significant number also hailing from various European countries, the United States, Argentina, China, and Morocco. Covering 1,000 square meters, the park features a stunning subtropical forest, vertical gardens, a water lily pond, a 15-meter waterfall, and three glass domes. The botanical collection showcases a diverse range of orchid species, totaling over 4,000 exhibits that capture the essence of tropical habitats worldwide. Notable varieties include the Phalaenopsis bellina with its purple hues and captivating scent, the Encyclia alata affinis known for its chocolate fragrance, and the delicate Maxillaria tenuifolia emitting a coconut aroma. Beyond its confines, the Estepona Orchidarium offers a vast green space of over 15,000 square meters at the heart of the city. Plans are underway for a major renovation, featuring new trees, botanical additions, revamped lighting, paving, and street furniture. The overarching goals of the Estepona Orchidarium encompass the preservation of its botanical treasures and the cultural enrichment of the city through educational initiatives, communication efforts, and the promotion of its botanical heritage through guided tours and public services.
