The ongoing operation will continue due to the significant amount of debris washed ashore. Once the rainy season subsides, the cleaning service will be strengthened to ensure the coast is pristine for Easter. Estepona’s City Council is increasing cleaning activities along the entire coastline, having already cleared approximately 12,000 cubic meters of reeds in the past three weeks that were carried onto the beaches by successive rainstorms. Workers are facing challenges with the constant appearance of waste due to river and stream overflow and heavy rainfall, which has led to an intensified effort. Access to certain areas has been hindered by high water levels caused by the influx of water and sediment. All debris removed from the coast is being transported to the waste treatment center. These operations will continue while storms persist and will be reinforced to fully prepare the beaches for the holiday season. The Beaches department has also started installing new surveillance and lifeguard towers in areas like La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo, and Arroyo Vaquero, which will be operational this summer.
