Musicians from around the world are participating in the V Composition Contest for Symphonic Band ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’, with a prize of 10,000 euros. The contest, open to composers of any nationality, aims to inspire the creation of symphonic works based on Estepona. A total of 18 composers, mainly from different countries, have entered the competition. The winning composer will be selected based on their musical project, career, catalog, experience, and dedication to creating music for ‘Symphonic Band’ or ‘Wind and Percussion Orchestra’. The chosen work should showcase the values of the contest and promote Estepona, its people, and traditions. The winning composer must submit the finished composition by September 18, 2026, for a public premiere by the Municipal Band of Estepona on November 20 at the Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI. The contest was originally organized to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Municipal Band, with past winners already part of the band’s archive.
