The Municipal Archaeological Museum in Estepona has undergone a comprehensive renovation, with the creation of a new large exhibition hall on the upper floor and remodeling of the central courtyard, woodwork, flooring, and staircases. Improvements such as updated lighting, installation of an elevator, and enhanced safety measures have been implemented. The exhibition space has doubled, allowing for the display of numerous archaeological artifacts previously in storage due to space constraints. Restoration work on the 18th-century beam ceiling and columns, as well as the installation of a stained-glass window in the courtyard, have been completed. Minor finishing touches and the setup of new furniture and display cases are all that remain to finalize this ambitious project. The goal is to provide a permanent home for the artifacts unearthed in recent archaeological excavations, shedding light on Estepona’s origins from prehistoric, Roman, and Islamic periods.
