The ongoing project to add sidewalks along the Benahavís road, spanning from the Mar y Monte to La Alquería roundabouts, is nearing its final stages, with only tree planting, landscaping, and minor details left to complete. Estepona City Council has confirmed that the construction work on the urban section of Benahavís Road is almost finished. The project, initially requested by local residents, was made possible after the municipality acquired ownership of this 2.3-kilometer stretch. Approval for the ownership transfer was granted by the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure of the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning, and Housing of the Regional Government of Andalusia some months ago. With a budget of 1,358,000 euros, the project aims to enhance the entire area by constructing sidewalks to facilitate pedestrian access between the A-7 and Avenida de La Alquería, as well as to link various residential developments in the vicinity. The project, now over 90 percent complete, is pending landscaping, tree planting, and final touches. Prior tasks included clearing the route, building the esplanade, excavating and installing storm drains, and carrying out lighting installations.
