Valued at over 35,000 euros, the recent construction work has successfully bridged a 3.5 meter level difference between the Blas Infante and Picasso neighborhoods, facilitating the movement of individuals with limited mobility. Estepona City Council has announced the installation of a footbridge to tackle the primary architectural barrier in the aforementioned neighborhoods. The new 50-meter long metal ramp aims to enhance mobility and accessibility by connecting both areas at a higher elevation. Furthermore, it will improve access to CEIP Sierra Bermeja, the local playground, and the Bello Horizonte neighborhood, ensuring a safer and more convenient passage for individuals with reduced mobility, elderly residents, and families with strollers. The project involves demolition, foundation work, installation of metal structures, and safety features. Materials such as structural steel profiles, metal tubes, plates, and reinforcement plates are being used, along with anti-corrosion painting for long-lasting durability. Skilled locksmiths and painters are working on the project to ensure quality finishing and protection of the metal structures. This initiative reflects the council’s dedication to enhancing public spaces and accessibility, aiming to elevate residents’ quality of life and create safer, more functional urban environments.
