The City Council of Estepona has taken steps to enhance thermal comfort conditions in local public schools by installing shaded areas. This project, which complements the climate control plan initiated by the council, required an investment of around 60,000 euros. The structures, measuring 6 by 12 meters each, were covered with sails previously used at the Paseo MarÃtimo, showcasing the council’s commitment to reusing materials and promoting sustainability. MarÃa Aguilar, the councilwoman overseeing the Education Department, highlighted the importance of this initiative in creating more comfortable spaces for students and teachers. In addition to the shaded areas, the council has been implementing the Climate Control Plan, with the installation of air conditioning and heating units in schools. This plan, with a total investment of 130,000 euros from the municipality and 100,000 euros from the Regional Government of Andalusia, aims to equip all classrooms with these units for improved thermal conditions. These efforts signify a significant advancement in ensuring that Estepona’s educational infrastructure provides optimal conditions for the entire educational community.
