A call for bids has been issued by the Estepona City Council to acquire 465 new streetlights for various roads and areas on the outskirts. Additionally, an investment of nearly 400,000 euros is being made to enhance street lighting in multiple public parks and along seven sections of the coastal corridor. The council is persisting with its plan to revamp and modernize streetlights in outlying regions, introducing new solar-powered lights to enhance lighting on different roads and promote energy efficiency. The project entails the installation of 465 new lights, with a total investment of 560,458 euros, including VAT. This comprises the base bid budget for the supply and installation of 325 solar streetlights on nine roads, as well as an additional allocation for 140 lights on Montejaque Street, Lima Street, and La Resina Avenue. The largest part of the project involves the installation of 325 solar streetlights on various streets and sidewalks, while 140 streetlights are planned for other specific streets, continuing efforts to improve lighting in these areas. The upgrades will introduce modern and efficient lighting systems, reducing energy consumption and costs associated with street lighting, and contributing to a reduction in light pollution. These initiatives complement other recent projects to modernize lighting in public spaces across the city, with 138 streetlights set to be installed along the coastal corridor. Furthermore, the lighting improvement plan has been extended to several parks and green spaces in Estepona, where outdated lighting systems have been replaced with more efficient LED fixtures. This includes the installation of ornamental lighting in Parque Carmen Thyssen to enhance its appearance and improve the visitor experience after dark. The Estepona City Council’s commitment to enhancing public lighting in the outskirts remains strong, promoting sustainable and efficient solutions throughout the municipality.
