The expansion of the traffic control system to include over 400 smart cameras throughout the city is now open for bidding by interested companies. The devices will be placed at 82 locations, mainly on the city’s outskirts, to optimize traffic flow and respond promptly to traffic issues. Proposals must be submitted by October 8 through the Public Sector Procurement Platform. The project has a budget of 970,410.78 euros, and aims to enhance traffic control and urban mobility. Deputy Mayor Ana Velasco announced that 170 new devices will be installed alongside the existing 240 cameras. This move follows the successful implementation of the smart camera system in 2023, positioning the city as a technology leader in the province. The City Council plans to further extend the system to improve traffic management in different areas of the municipality. The upgraded system will feature advanced devices for better performance in managing traffic incidents citywide. The Control Center at the Estepona Local Police Headquarters will oversee the system, ensuring swift responses to traffic emergencies. Real-time data and images will be accessible from the Control Center, enhancing monitoring capabilities.
