The City Council has approved the dedication of a public space in Cancelada to honor Ignacio Echeverría, also known as the ‘skateboard hero’, who tragically lost his life in London in 2017 while bravely defending people from a terrorist attack. The sports area in Avenida de Las Palmeras de Cancelada will be inaugurated this Saturday, May 23, with various activities planned throughout the day. The facility has been expanded and improved to include a calisthenics park, petanque courts, and a tennis table, providing opportunities for exercise and recreation for residents of all ages. In addition to sports amenities, the area has been beautified with new trees, grass, and street furniture. The inauguration event will include exhibitions, a plaque unveiling ceremony, skateboarding demonstrations, and a paella tasting. The City Council encourages all neighbors to join in celebrating the new facilities and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
