The ongoing project is set to enhance traffic circulation and is on track to be finished in about a month. Estepona’s City Council has recommenced construction activities on the revamp of the traffic circle along Avenida José Martín Méndez. The primary goal is to restructure traffic flow in the vicinity and alleviate congestion at the intersection near the BP gas station. Construction had briefly halted to accommodate the rerouting of a medium voltage line, a crucial step to ensure project continuity with all necessary technical and safety measures. With this phase now complete, work on the new traffic circle has resumed. Situated in one of the municipality’s busiest traffic zones, particularly during peak hours due to its connection to the industrial estate access, the new traffic circle stands at the crossroads of José Martín Méndez Avenue and Alemania Street. Deputy mayor of Infrastructure and Development, Ana Velasco, revealed that the project is approaching its final stages, involving the finalization of the north sidewalk, completion of the central traffic circle, and the necessary asphalt and signage installation across the area. Velasco emphasized that these efforts will ‘enhance traffic flow and redirect circulation towards the industrial area ascent, helping to ease congestion at the BP traffic circle’. With a municipal investment of 401,415 euros (including VAT), the project is slated for completion within an estimated month.
