To celebrate International Book Day 2026, Estepona City Council has planned a series of activities. The events kick off on Thursday, April 23rd, with the announcement of winners of the ‘V Bookface Contest’. Following this, a storytelling session will take place at 5:30 pm in the Children’s Room of the Municipal Library, while the Library of Contemporary Cultures will host a translation and writing workshop at 8:00 pm. These initiatives aim to promote the love of reading among the community. International Book Day, observed globally on April 23rd, was established by UNESCO in 1988 to encourage reading, support the publishing industry, and uphold intellectual property rights. This date holds significance in literary history as it marks the passing of renowned writers Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Garcilaso de la Vega in 1616.
