María Miralles, a trailblazer in equality policies, guitarist José Fernández, and historian Francisco Medina have been named Favorite Sons of Estepona by the City Council. Estepona’s health sector was recognized in a special ceremony on Andalusia Day, with the Council praising their important work and dedication to the citizens’ well-being. Special mentions were given to key medical professionals who have made a significant impact on the community over the years. Various hospitals and medical centers, including Estepona High Resolution Hospital, Hospiten, and Vithas Xanit Estepona Hospital, were acknowledged for their contributions. The event also honored nurses, physicians, and volunteer interpreters who have provided invaluable services. Additionally, the City Council bestowed the titles of Favorite Sons on María Miralles for her advocacy for gender equality, José Fernández for his contributions to flamenco music, and Francisco Medina for his teaching and writing on Estepona’s history.
