The City Council’s decision to lower taxes has not resulted in decreased investments or services. This year, more than 6.6 million euros have been allocated for Property Tax (IBI) rebates, along with an additional 144,000 euros for garbage tax exemptions. The goal is to continue providing fiscal support to all Estepona families, particularly those in need. The total amount earmarked for tax reductions in Estepona exceeds 7 million euros this year, with a focus on subsidizing IBI and waiving garbage tax payments for vulnerable groups. These measures have significantly lightened the financial burden on Estepona residents. Mayor José María García Urbamo emphasizes the City Council’s commitment to not raise taxes and to assist those most in need, without compromising on investment or service quality. Notably, IBI bills have seen a 50% reduction on average since 2012, thanks to previous initiatives. Further reductions are available for those who opt for direct debit payments and meet specific criteria. The City Council has also introduced incentives for recycling at clean points to reduce the garbage tax. These tax relief efforts are made possible by the City Council’s financial discipline and commitment to public investment. Various other tax incentives, such as exemptions for certain economic activities and discounts for environmental-friendly vehicles, aim to support local businesses and promote sustainability.
