Taking place in the natural surroundings of Los Pedregales, the event will kick off at 09:30 am. Estepona’s City Council has announced that the San Isidro Labrador Municipal Park in Los Pedregales will be the venue for the tenth leg of the XXV Provincial Orienteering Circuit ‘Diputación de Málaga 2026’ this Saturday, June 6, starting at 09:30 am. This circuit, comprising a series of orienteering challenges in natural settings, aims to promote the sport among youth. With a total of 19 days, the circuit commenced on February 1 in Istan and will conclude on December 12 in Torre del Mar. It is coordinated by the Provincial Council of Malaga, in collaboration with the municipalities hosting the tests, in partnership with the Andalusian Federation of Orientation (Malaga Delegation) and COMA, Orienteering Club of Malaga. The circuit’s objectives include boosting the sport and sports tourism in the province’s natural landscapes, catering to all ages and skill levels in a structured and insured manner, encouraging physical activity for families, promoting female participation, integrating physical activity for individuals with disabilities, and fostering popular and beginner participation in orienteering beyond the competitive aspect. The Estepona test, accommodating up to 300 athletes, will focus on children, particularly students from five years old and local schools (Primary, Secondary, and High School) that have engaged in similar events in the current academic year, up to the 75-year-old category. The event will feature a Trail-O (Precision Orienteering), a specialty that emphasizes map-reading skills over physical prowess, conducted on accessible trails to ensure equal opportunities for participants with and without disabilities. To ease transportation for local attendees from the town center to Los Pedregales periurban park, the City Council will offer a bus service upon request during registration.
