Commencing in the section between Mar y Monte and Alquería traffic circles, the project includes the installation of lighting, trees, and landscaping. The Estepona City Council has launched a project to provide sidewalks and traffic calming measures for the urban section of Benahavís road. This initiative, long-awaited by the municipality, was made possible after acquiring ownership of the 2.3 kilometer stretch. Following the approval from the General Directorate of Road Infrastructures, the road now belongs to Estepona. The Council plans to enhance the area by constructing a sidewalk to facilitate pedestrian traffic from the A-7 to La Alqueria Avenue, connecting various developments in the vicinity. Additionally, traffic calming measures and pedestrian walkways will be implemented in response to community requests. The project involves building a sidewalk on the east side of the road, along with installing traffic calming features, lighting, landscaping, and trees. Stretching from Mar y Monte traffic circle to Alquería Avenue traffic circle and Pico Alcazaba access, the endeavor is allocated a budget of 1,358,000 euros and is scheduled to be completed in four months. The construction plan considers minimal disruption to traffic flow in the area, addressing a long-standing demand from local residents now that Estepona has jurisdiction over the land.
