A new initiative titled ‘On guard against heat’ was launched by the City Council and the Red Cross in order to promote the prevention of adverse effects of high temperatures, especially targeting the elderly and vulnerable groups. Every Sunday in July and August, a tent will be set up on the Paseo Marítimo from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., providing information on protection measures against heat, a shaded area for resting, and free blood pressure testing. The campaign emphasizes the importance of taking preventive measures such as avoiding intense physical activity during peak heat hours, sun protection, and staying hydrated. In case of alerts for high temperatures, Red Cross will establish care and prevention points as needed. The initiative has the support of the City Council and the collaboration of Xanit Estepona Hospital, Cash Fresh Supermarket, Covirán Supermarkets, and the Mahou San Miguel Foundation.
