Installation of Modern Surveillance and Rescue Towers by the City Council

The Estepona City Council has commenced the installation of new lifeguard and surveillance towers in preparation for the upcoming summer season on the beaches of La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo, and Arroyo Vaquero. A total of 17 structures will be erected along the coastline, from Mexico Street to Arroyo Enmedio. These towers, measuring 4.7 meters in height with a portion buried under the sand, consist of a transportable prefabricated base and hut. Featuring access stairs and a decked area at the top, they provide optimal vantage points for authorized personnel. The hut is equipped with sliding methacrylate doors on each side for uninterrupted surveillance during inclement weather and protection against breakage. These modern towers will replace the traditional surveillance chairs previously used by the lifeguard service during the beach season, running from June 15 to September 15. The selected construction company has enhanced the initial offer, reducing both supply time and budget by over 27,000 euros, resulting in a contract cost of 110,000 euros. Designed to withstand ultraviolet radiation, moisture, impacts, and aggressions, these towers require no maintenance or replacement, ensuring long-term durability.
