On Friday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m., the Casa de Las Tejerinas will host a lecture by the French writer and origamist Alain Georgeot on the fascinating topic of ‘The Art of Paper’. The Estepona City Council has announced this event, which will take place in the Alfonso Gil Hall of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, situated in the Plaza de las Flores. Alain Georgeot, a paper folder since 1983 and former president of the French Movement of Paper Folders, has a vast international experience in origami. He will delve into the history of paper, from its origins to its global reach, highlighting its dual nature of being both a tool for study and a source of entertainment. The session will be interactive, with practical exercises focusing on creating ‘folds of smiles and reflections’. This event is a great opportunity for those interested in origami to get a gentle introduction before future workshops. Alain Georgeot, born in Castelsarrasin, France, in 1952, is known for his precision and beauty in both origami and writing. His recent work, ‘Los Balsaminos’, has made an impact on the Spanish-French literary scene, drawing inspiration from his personal encounters with origamists and reflecting on themes of respect, wisdom, and personal growth.
