Local drivers gear up for the Subida a Peñas Blancas

The upcoming weekend will see 13 drivers from the area take part in the Subida a Peñas Blancas, a prestigious event that will attract the top mountain motor racing talent in the country. The competition holds significance not only for the Andalusian Championship and the Andalusian Car-Cross Cup, but also for the Diputación de Málaga Cup. This year, a record-breaking 114 pilots have registered from various regions of Spain. The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, met with the local drivers ahead of the XVII edition of the Subida de Campeones Estepona-Peñas Blancas 2026. This event is a key fixture in the Championship of Spain and Andalusia Mountain, Subida de Campeones, and the Cup of the Provincial Council of Malaga. The mayor commended the Estepona drivers for their participation in this prestigious event that showcases the best of mountain motoring. The drivers include Salvador Tineo Arroyo, Cristóbal López Espinosa, Jesús Navarro Díaz, Rafael Rubio García, Francisco José Polo Padilla, Manuel Sánchez Merchán, Pedro Medina Aragón, Alejandro Vargas Salas, Miguel Ángel Simón Chacón, Álvaro Polo Alférez, Juan Andrés Aguilar Benítez, Raúl Villar Uceda, and Noelia Benítez Ríos. The Royal Spanish Automobile Federation’s support has been crucial in ensuring a seamless organization for the event, allowing fans to witness top teams in the picturesque location of Sierra Bermeja. CD RS Sport’s representative, Rafael Arjona, mentioned the record number of participants this year, with 114 drivers competing from across the nation. The schedule for the XVII Subida de Campeones Estepona-Peñas Blancas 2026 is set as follows: Technical Verifications and Starting Ceremony on Friday, April 10, Official Training and Races on Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12 dedicated to the final races and the Trophy Ceremony.
