The champion of Indoor High Jump M55 in 2025 from Spain, serves as the technical director of Escuela Club Atletismo Estepona. Juan Sergio Picardo, a member of Estepona Club, secured the runner-up title in M60 Short Track 2026. The City Council of Estepona announces that Luis Merayo Cantalapiedra, the reigning Spanish Champion of high jump M55 in Indoor Track 2025, has once again clinched the gold medal in the High Jump event at the Spanish Masters Championship of Athletics Short Track held at the ‘Centro de Tecnificación Deportiva de Atletismo’ in Antequera. The local athlete claimed the top spot in the high jump discipline of the M55 category with a best jump of 1.63 meters, amidst tough competition from athletes of Club Atletismo Estepona. Alongside Luis Merayo’s gold, Juan Sergio Picardo secured the silver in M60 60 ml. Other notable results from the Championship include Juan Zotano (8th place in long jump M55), Miguel de los Santos (Semifinalist in M50 60 ml), Miguel Fco. López (5th place in shot put M45), Eric Bourdes (Semifinalist in 60 ml M55), Juan Sergio Picardo (4th place in 200 ml M60), and Cristóbal Rodríguez, Fco. Javier Martín, Fco. Cervantes, Juan Sergio Picardo (Relay 4×200 M40). Luis Merayo, who also serves as the technical director of Escuela Club Atletismo Estepona, currently holds various titles including the 2024 world runner-up in M55 outdoor high jump, bronze medal in the 2024 World Championships in M55 outdoor long jump, 2025 Spanish champion in M55 indoor and outdoor high jump, and the 2026 Spanish champion in M55 high jump and outdoor high jump. In March last year, Merayo won bronze in High Jump and Long Jump M55 at the World Indoor Masters Athletics Championships 2025 in Florida, USA. In October, he secured silver in High Jump and bronze in Long Jump at the European Masters Outdoor Athletics Championships 2025 in Madeira, Portugal.
