The construction of a new velodrome in Estepona has begun, featuring an 11-a-side soccer field and the city’s first rugby facilities. The project also includes a periurban park spanning over 20,000 square meters, which will provide space for more than 300 subsidized housing units. Situated next to the Monterroso stream and Camino de las Mesas, the velodrome will offer cycling facilities, a soccer field, and rugby amenities. The oval-shaped cycling stadium will have multiple levels of seating for up to a thousand spectators, along with essential amenities such as toilets, changing rooms, and a gymnasium. The construction, awarded to UTE Parque Estepona for 3,652,569.85 euros, is expected to be completed in 9 months. The project also involves integrating the Monterroso River into the urban area, connecting it to the Trade Fair and Sports Park, and facilitating the construction of approximately 300 subsidized housing units.
