Over the past five years, the Paula y la Fábrica de Médula association has raised 18,000 euros to contribute to leukemia research in children during the breastfeeding period. Supported by the Estepona City, this entity’s volunteers have been commended for their dedicated work in the fight against childhood cancer. The donation ceremony, presided over by Mayor José María García Urbano, took place today where the association handed over the funds to the Josep Carreras Leukemia Foundation. The money will be used for research led by Dr. Menéndez in Barcelona, focusing on combating leukemia in breastfeeding children. The Genyo Center, a hub for multidisciplinary research, manages these studies involving professionals from various sectors. The José Carreras Foundation will oversee and coordinate the donation, demonstrating the ongoing support for families affected by childhood cancer. Various private entities and organizations from the city, such as the National Police and Civil Guard, also collaborate with the association. Belén López from the Genyo Center expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasizing its significance in advancing research against cancer and the unity in the battle against the disease.
